I suppose I should start with the game that started my love for RPGMaker games, it was by no means the first one I played but the one that opened my eyes.

Space Funeral is an rpg developed by thecatamites and was released on September 17, 2010. Absolutely not being the day or the year or even decade I ended up playing it. It's surreal, jarring, and disgusting looking, and it grabbed my attention immedately. The game looks and sounds like I feel after a long day at work. While there is likely some kind of overarching narrative that I missed I feel it was a statement about the game industry and how we constantly strive to create things more extravegant than the last guy ending up with tons and tons of games that are just style and no substance. While space funeral boasts by most defintions ugly graphics and visuals and fairly rudementry gameplay. Despite this I was engrossed the setting and world laid out before me; the game being roughly an hour and some change if you take your time it felt like I spent a lifetime playing the first time around.

It's a short game so that's all I will say about it, this is my first blog post and I hope it makes sense and inspires you to check out the game. (Once I figure out how to actually link stuff I will be linking the itch.io page here).
